Hollard Services
Hollard's disability cover can provide peace of mind and financial security, allowing you to focus on your health and recovery without worrying about your finances.
Why you might be needing a disability cover?
Hollard offers disability insurance to protect your income in case you are unable to work due to an accident or illness. You can select the coverage that suits you best at an affordable price, with lump sum payouts of up to R10 million and monthly income payments of up to R100,000. This cover ensures that your expenses are taken care of, allowing you to adjust your life without financial worry.
It's important to understand that disability cover and impairment cover serve different purposes in your life insurance. Disability cover provides financial protection to you and your family if you cannot work anymore due to an accident or illness, while impairment insurance provides funds that can be used for adjustments like installing a wheelchair ramp.
Hollard offers both types of cover, and the coverage can be tailored to your specific needs. The lump sum or monthly payments can be used to cover expenses like bills, medical costs, and other necessary expenses.
What is the difference between disability cover and impairment cover?
Hollard offers both disability cover and impairment cover, which are two different types of insurance. Disability cover is intended to provide a substitute for your income in case you are incapable of working due to illness or accident, while impairment cover is not directly associated with your capacity to generate an income.
Rather, impairment cover is meant to assist with the expenses of adapting to your new way of life, such as installing a wheelchair ramp or purchasing appliances not covered by your medical insurance.
Disability cover is ideal for those who rely on their income to cover expenses like bills and mortgages. On the other hand, an impairment cover is a great option for those who need help with the costs associated with living with a disability, regardless of whether or not they are still able to work. This type of insurance can provide financial assistance for things like medical equipment, home modifications, and mobility aids.

Hassle-free and convenient disability cover from Hollard
To apply for disability coverage with Hollard, you need to visit their website and navigate to the Disability Insurance page, where you can fill out an online application form with your personal details, occupation, and medical history.
You can choose between the available disability cover and optional benefits you would like to include in your policy. After submitting the form, a Hollard representative will contact you to complete the application process, which may include providing additional information or medical assessments.
If your application is approved, you can accept the policy and start paying your premiums. However, the application process may vary depending on your specific circumstances and the type of disability coverage you are applying for, and Hollard may require additional documentation or medical assessments to determine your eligibility and calculate your premium.
Would you like both types of coverage at the same time?
For those who want both types of coverage, Hollard offers Disability Plus, an all-in-one insurance plan that covers you for disability and impairment. This plan provides a tax-free lump sum payout of up to R10 million and, after the waiting period has expired, 1% of the lump sum will be paid monthly as an income. Benefits you receive when taking out a disability cover from Hollard
Hollard offers a range of disability cover benefits to its clients. One of these benefits is crisis waver, which allows policyholders to pause payment of premiums on their critical illness coverage for up to three months in case of a major life event like the death of a spouse, retrenchment, or divorce.
Another benefit is the cash-back option, which provides a cash payout to policyholders after every five years of being claim-free. The long-term care benefit offers coverage for full-time care with a registered medical professional, nursing home, or hospice. After turning 65, the policyholder is eligible for monthly payments of up to R30,000. The policy also includes a death benefit both before and after turning 65.
How can you claim your disability benefits?
When claiming from Hollard, you’ll need to notify them as soon as possible to inform them of your disability and your intention to claim. After the event occurs, you can contact the Hollard Claims Department via phone or email.
You will have to provide the necessary documents to support your claim, which may include medical reports, hospital records, and proof of loss of income.
