About OUTsurance
Market leader Outsurance was founded early in February 1998, in Centurion by Willem Roos, Howard Aaron and Rene Otto, with the revolutionary promise to you – money back to you for not claiming.
Building on early success
This ethos of giving back has helped grow the company's remarkable popularity over the last 3 decades. Most recently Outsurance officially joined the JSE, taking over the listing of Rand Merchant Investment Holdings, its parent company, on the 7th of December 2022.
Martinus Visser, Outsurance CEO, lauded this development and said that he and his team were keenly anticipating becoming a public company.
A winning team
Mr Visser, thanked RMI/RMB for a brilliant partnership over the last 25 years and said he was extremely proud of his experienced team for achieving this milestone.
This had been made possible by having a strategy. Outsurance will leverage its track record by creating and returning value to you, their staff, shareholders, service providers and the community, he added.
The Pointsman Project and more ways that OUTsurance cares for you
Client service remains at the heart of Outsurance, and this is why they consistently come out at the top of the industry, providing its many satisfied clients with a wealth of free benefits, such as the Pointsmen Project.
A great idea, well implemented
This exciting, one-of-a-kind initiative launched in Johannesburg in September 2005, to address the problem of road congestion. 21 men and women, who had been unemployed, received training from JMPD (Johannesburg Metro Police Department). They were then placed at intersections experiencing high traffic volumes, to help regulate traffic flow.
This project grew in Johannesburg and Tshwane, experiencing terrific growth as a result of its popularity and demand for the service, and now employs 178 committed men and women as pointsmen. On the 9th of January 2023, the Pointsmen Project expanded into Paarl and Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, with 15 pointsmen in each area.
Partnering for a better future
Outsurance has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to providing lasting solutions through its partnership with KFM 94.5 and the Stellenbosch and Drakenstein municipalities.
They encourage members of the public to phone in or use the app to identify faulty traffic lights or lights affected by load shedding. You can request a pointsman at particular intersections by using the Outsurance app. They look forward to expanding this project and continuing to work towards road safety in South Africa while providing work to over 280 matriculants and easing congestion, resulting in happier motorists.

Guaranteed to beat your current premium
Outsurance is so sure that they'll save you money that they have their famous cash reward offer if they can't beat your current premiums.
This means that they'll give you a guaranteed R500 if their offer isn't lower than what you pay your current insurer (not Outsurance), for the same product. And that's not all. If you've been with an insurer for over 3 years, haven't claimed, and can prove it, they'll give you R1500.
Setting a trend with their OUTbonus
Outbonus is Outsurance's groundbreaking cash bonus that gives back to you, as a reward for not claiming. This is activated after 3 claim-free years in a row. On the anniversary of your policy, you'll get a 10% cash bonus of the premiums paid that year, to spend how you want.
After 2 more years of no claims, you'll get another 10% back, and then 10% for every claim-free year following. This means you'll have had 7 Outbonuses after 10 years when you haven't claimed. Outsurance has already paid out billions in cash to date, with no sign of stopping.
The Outbonus is not affected if you use Help@OUT. It's only forfeited on the settlement of a claim. Thereafter a new 3-year cycle begins.
For the ultimate peace of mind: Panic Assistance
This safety feature provides you with peace of mind in medical and security emergencies. By tapping on their app an armed response or medical unit closest to you is notified of your location and will come to your assistance, whenever, wherever. This is free to you but even if you're not yet with Outsurance, you can still benefit from this fantastic product for only R199 a year.
Home and roadside emergency assistance
This amazingly helpful feature makes a breeze of those awkward moments when things go wrong. Get a tow or a locksmith when you need it. Outsurance will give you two free calls a year. On the app, you can just drop a pin for your location and they'll come to you.
