The insurance policies cover a range of circumstances, including cancellation of journeys due to specific circumstances like hospitalisation, loss, damage or theft of personal belongings, valuables and devices during travel, and flight delays.

Here’s exactly what you’ll be covered for

• Journey cancellation
• Possessions cover for personal belongings, valuables and devices
• Delay cover compensating customers in the event of a flight delay
• Baggage insurance that covers theft or damage to checked-in items as well as any damage to the bag itself
• Protection for personal belongings and sports equipment for up to R10,000, including theft or damage to checked-in items, as well as any damage to the bag itself.
• Compensation for delayed flights up to R400 per three-hour delay period, to a maximum value of R3,000.
• It’s important to note that the coverage for valuables and devices is limited, and that customers are asked to remove any such items from checked-in luggage and keep them on their person.

There are separate policies available for covering checked bags and personal belongings, with the latter covering up to R10,000 for an optional cost of only R13.

However, the policy specifically excludes coverage for valuables and devices such as computers, phones, cameras and video camera, GPS systems, or cash, which passengers are required to keep on their person.
