Key events in Discovery’s history

The company was established in 1992 and introduced Discovery Health in 1993. They launched Vitality in 1997 and were listed on the JSE in 1999. In 2004 Discovery launched its first overseas venture in the United Kingdom.

In 2009 they expanded even further to China with a 25% acquisition of Ping An Health. Vitality Insure is launched in 2011 with an expansion to Australia in 2014. In 2022, Discovery expanded to the rest of the African continent, Poland, and the Czech Republic.
