About FNB

FNB has a rich history. It was established as the Eastern Province Bank in Grahamstown in 1838. Today, the bank operates under the umbrella of FirstRand Bank Limited. The latter was listed on the JSE in 1998.

Packing a punch

The FirstRand Limited stable comprises WesBank which provides instalment finance, Rand Merchant Bank which focuses on investments, and FNB which is best known for its retail and commercial services.

Survival of the fittest

The bank is firmly rooted in the financial prowess of the country. It has overcome many challenges, cementing its stellar reputation as a trusted partner in finance.

You can therefore expect a comprehensive range of financial products that cater to your every need. One of these is its car insurance offering.

Excellent value

The advantages of FNB car insurance are many. Here are but a few:

  • You’re rewarded monthly for taking care of your vehicle.
  • You can use your eBucks rewards at your discretion.
  • Waiting periods don’t apply to claims.
  • Your insurance is based on the retail value of your car.
  • You get a discount for every vehicle you add to your insurance policy.

Get back on the road fast

First Warranty is an exciting new offering that covers certain components of your car in the event of a breakdown.

Repairs can be costly but with First Warranty, you won’t need to break the bank anymore. This insurance covers components such as drive shafts, breaks and the fuel system, even if your vehicle’s warranty has expired. At only R 199.00 per month, you can’t afford to be without it.

No more getting stuck next to the road

FNB vehicle insurance also takes care of you, the valued client. You qualify for roadside assistance that includes:

  • Breakdown towing
  • Help with a flat battery
  • Assistance whenever you run out of fuel
  • Flat tyres
  • Access to vehicle locksmiths

Your partner in an emergency

Your policy also caters to medical emergencies you might encounter on your journey.

In the case of an accident, you qualify for medical transportation up to R10 000 per incident, day or night. Because FNB knows the devastating effect of trauma on the individual, they also provide you with professional counselling. This service is extremely valuable in the event of a hijacking.

FNB Services

FNB offers a diverse range of personal finance and insurance products. FNB Car Insurance is specifically tailored to protect your prized asset against all the dangers that lurk on the road, giving you peace of mind that any potential risk is taken care of.

The bank understands that your vehicle’s value doesn’t only lie in getting you from one destination to another. You can choose from a range of insurance options that cater to your specific requirements.

1. Comprehensive cover

In the event of your car being stolen or seriously damaged, FNB Comprehensive Cover will either replace your vehicle or pay for a wide range of repairs.

The following is covered in your policy:

  • Accidents, including one caused by a third party.
  • Theft or hijacking, very relevant in the current political climate of the country
  • Disasters such as fire and explosions, as well as storm, flood, earthquake, snow, and hail damage.
  • Damage caused by animals, both wild and domestic.
  • Replacement of locks and keys.
  • Towing, safe storage, and delivery after a breakdown.
  • Emergency repairs to your vehicle in the event of a breakdown whilst away from home.
  • Emergency accommodation in the case of an incident that happens more than 100km from your residence.
  • Windscreen repairs as well as permanent window glass.
  • A cash payment in the event of a breakdown outside the country’s borders to assist you with repatriation.
  • Third-party liability cover should you inflict damage to another vehicle or property or when another driver damages your insured vehicle.
  • Vehicle modification should you become semi-disabled.

It is important, though, to familiarize yourself with the limits and exclusions on your policy schedule.

2. Third-party, fire, and theft

This option is designed to fit your budget and is therefore slightly cheaper. You enjoy coverage if your car is stolen. It also includes damage because of fire as well as hijacking. Minor damages such as scratches to the bodywork are however not covered. You also get third-party liability cover for:

  • Damages you have inflicted on another vehicle or property.
  • Damages occurred whilst another driver used your insured vehicle

Limits and exclusions are clearly defined in your policy.

3. Third-party cover

This policy only covers you for third-party liability if you’ve caused damage to another vehicle or property.

You’re also covered should another driver damage your insured vehicle. It’s important to note that your vehicle isn’t covered for any event caused by you as the driver. Your policy schedule clearly defines the limits and exclusions.
