Lion of Africa Services

Their range of service products comprises four main tiers.

Advanced Life Plan

This plan offers a cover of R50 000 up to R300 000 for you and your partner in the case of death. It’s a full life-term policy with entry ages from 18 to 65. You do not need to undergo any medical tests to qualify. You or your partner can be the primary policyholder. You get a 10% immediate funeral payout upon death, except in the case of suicide.

The plan also offers additional benefits. The Survival Benefit gives you cash back on your life cover premiums, excluding increases.You also get extra funeral cover for your dependents.

Should the life-assured die of unnatural causes, the beneficiary will receive an immediate full payout or it’ll be paid to the deceased’s estate. In the case of death due to natural causes certain waiting periods will apply on the basis of claim percentages. If suicide happens within the first six months of the policy, benefits are forfeited.

The Advanced Funeral Plan

This plan offers a cover of up to R 70 000 and comprises three options:

  • The Standard Plan: It includes funeral cover, a money-back guarantee, and Lionlife Assist.
  • The Comprehensive Plan: This plan also offers all the Standard Plan benefits, but you also get cashback and education benefits. A grocery benefit is also included.
  • The Premier plan: The plan comprises all the benefits of the first two plans. Additionally, you also get a retirement paid-up benefit and a survival benefit. You get cover of up to R300 000 and you don’t need any medical examinations to qualify.

Lionlife Assist is a 24/7 helpline that gives you expert emergency funeral, health, and trauma assistance to help you navigate challenging life events. The funeral plan’s money-back guarantee pays an amount equal to the first six months’ premiums in the event of death due to non-accidental causes.

Death and Disability Cover

This product offers up to R 250 000 accidental death and disability cover for people aged 18 to 74. Permanent and complete disability are included in your policy. It also provides cover for your partner. A cash-back benefit of 25 % also applies.  

Group Policies

This product range comprises funeral benefits for businesses, churches, burial societies, and additional funeral-plan groups. They pay a cash amount upon death. Additional members of these policies only pay a single rate.

The funeral group scheme must have at least 1 000 members with a maximum of 4 children. A cost of R5 applies to every child that’s added. Group policies have a waiting period of six months and the maximum qualification age is 84. After-death transportation is an additional benefit.

There are two categories:

  • Compulsory group schemes comprising Compulsory Limited Policies and Compulsory to Death.
  • Voluntary group schemes include Voluntary Limited Policies and Voluntary to Death Policies.
