21st Century’s Premier Funeral Plan
The Premier Plan, introduced by 21st Century Life in 1999, was the first funeral plan to include catering services. The updated plan offers convenience, dignity, and value for money. It provides immediate cash before the death certificate is issued, airtime worth R500, and grocery funds after the certificate is issued.
The catering service includes equipment, staff, and luxury cars. The plan offers several funeral benefits such as collection, preparation and preservation of the deceased, assistance with documentation, casket, spray, night vigil screen and stand, grave marker, funeral programs, enlarged photo, church decoration, hearse, and family cars.
The cemetery decor includes a tent, gazebo, chairs, carpets, lowering devices, and bottled water. The catering assistance provides plates, cutlery, a gas stove, pots, matsogo/Izandla, and utensils. The Premier Plan costs R100 per month and has terms and conditions.
Funeral plans for Zimbabweans living abroad
Tsigiro Usekelo is a repatriation service designed for Zimbabweans living in the diaspora, providing benefits such as repatriation from anywhere in South Africa to Zimbabwe, transportation for family with refreshments, up to R10,000 in cash, and a burial service by Old Mutual Funerals in Zimbabwe for R120 a month.
The package also includes storage, coffin, and other benefits in line with the Department of Health’s Regulations for a dignified send-off. The policy has a 6-month waiting period for death due to natural causes, and repatriation benefits apply to the main member, spouse, and dependents on the main policy.
